Lynam - It's All In Your Head |
] |
Boy oh boy. I haven't posted on here in a looooooooooong time. Hi everybody!
First off, DragonForce is silliness. Awesomely hardxcore silliness.
Second off, school is hard. And it's worth every second of it, but it is a damn lot of work. I'm just glad I go to a school where all the work is fun and interesting, and we don't have to learn stupid crap that no one would ever care about. I'm also pretty happy (still) that my campus job kicks ass. I'm currently on the clock, making $10 an hour, to write this lj post. I'm making $60 today at work, and maybe more this evening, by doing little to no work the whole time (homework excluded, at least as much as I'm actually doing any).
Did I mention that school is hard?
Kim Somers is the most beautiful girl in the world.
I am rather bearded at the moment. It helps some with the coldness that there is out here (there is a LOT of damn coldness out here). When I came in to work this morning at 10 it was -13, and then when you add the 25mph wind onto that... It's supposed to get down in the hardxcore negatives tonight. I'm talking negative 30 or 40 degrees. Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeah. Might be time to bust out my real winter jacket soon.
Everyone plays magic. Which kicks ass. Several of us are pretty well-matched, which is sweet.
I've beeb messing around with Nerf guns a lot recently. I built a monstrous sniper rifle/shotgun, which is not nearly finished yet, but is getting nastier all the time. I can already shoot, with a fair bit of accuracy and a fuckton of power, the entire length of my dorm. Next step is to make it a little smaller, add a bike pump and a clip/rotary breech, and paint it. Hellz yes.
I think that's about all I have to say, though I may amend that sometime. I hope y'alls are having great lives in your various places of residence. I come home in mid-March.

This has been my work for the last couple days (not the program--that took a while longer and isn't finished yet) I am happy with it. ( cut for image size ) Bonus points for everything you can identify in that picture; telling me what's on the taskbar doesn't count. More points if you know why it's taken me a couple days to do it.

"The first five people to respond to this post will get some form of art, by me, about them. I make no guarantees about quality or type, but I will assure that I will give it good effort and that the art will be individual to you, so if you get a mixed CD or some sort of painting doodle, yours is the only one like it. The only catch, of course: if you sign up, you have to put this in your own journal as well."
What are these quotes for?

| Hard at work at the SCIC |
[09 Oct 2006|11:44pm] |
I am the worst effing college student ever.
I am SO TERRRIBLE. Kim being here atm doesn't help any, of course, because whyever would I want to do homework while she's around 24/7? I wouldn't! and that's a problem. I really desperately need to get some work done pretty soon here or I am skrewed. Currently all I'm good at is procrastinating, which is so not a good thing here. Ugh. And I still don't hvae my textbook for russian, which is making doing my homework for that class, well impossible. SUCK. Since there's about 4hrs of homeworkj for russian every night. SUCK.
However, this entry is pretty negative and it shouldn't be. I am havinbg a wonderful friggin time, which is why I suck so much at doing homework. I get distracted by stuff like Harry Potter Assassins and whatnot. I've been carrying a wand around all weekend, waiting to Avada Kedavra this kid on fourth. And reading up on other spells in the interim (Emma, curse you and your making my teeth grow! Avis!)
I love this school (and as Kim says, you have to experience it to believe how ridiculous it is-- I didn't realize places like this existed until I was here. Nor did she. Boy it is awesome =D)

NIN - The Hand that Feeds |
] |
This school is silly. There's always so much random goofy stuff going on.
So, Goodhue (my dorm) has decided to play its own little game of assassin, with totally different rules than all the other version, of course. This one: Harry Potter Assassins. Each of the four floors is a house, and of course 3rd is going to win because we have all the fanatics and whatnot on our floor. I think the entire floor is playing; haha. Anyhow, the game is played like this: everyone playing gets a wand, and may assassinate people by touching them with their wand and saying avada kedavra (spelled right I hope?). Unless that person was holding their wand at the time, they die. Basicall it's an excuse to carry wands around everyplace. And Kim, I suggest you bring your gryffindor scarf when you come to visit, because it will be very much in the spirit of the game haha :-p and it's cold. Though it was like 85 today. Whatever. In any case, everyone on our floor picked people to be from our house, and we're pretty much just going to turn into those people by the end of the year, because everyone must (well not MUST, but should) replace their door signs with new ones with their Hogwarts names. In any case, the point of this is that this is the sign I just completed for my door (I know there's a pretty serious incongruity but give me a break, Zach's asleep and that is the ONLY PICTURE OF HIM ANYWHERE ON THE INTERNETZ.).
( Cut in case any of you poor saps still have dial-up )

Carleton owns a 900-acre arboretum out behind the campus, which has a bunch of very well-kept, paved trails and a bunch of dirt paths and a bunch of just woods. So a group of us (me, my roommate Zach, Sam from down the hall and Karen from a couple more doors down the hall) decided that we needed to go camping out there the night before last night. So we grabbed my sleeping bag and Sam's comforter and some bottles of water, flashlights, a knife, coats/fleeces/etc, and off we went around 9:00. We got all settled down and found a decent clearing in the middle of the forest and threw down the sleeping bag and opened up the comforter over us, and then lay down and chillaxed and talked for a while.
There were some shooting stars and stuff which were cool, though it was pretty cloudy, and there was a lot of heat lightning way off in the distance. After a few hours, the heat lightning had gotten closer--and now thunder was coming with it. No one mentioned it, but everyone was thinking the same thing-- God I hope it doesn't rain.
A few hours later, opf course, it did begin to rain, not hard, just drizzle. The comforter was getting wettish but we were fine, and decided there was no way we were going inside unless it really started to pour and/or start coming straight through the comforter. But it didn't do that. It just drizzled on and off for the next couple hours, enough to keep us very uncomfortable but still plenty warm. Eventually it finally started to pour, which was the condition under which we'd decided we'd leave, so we did. We went inside, threw our crap in the dryers and chillaxed in my room for the next several hours until people went to bed. So basically it was awesome, and we'll be going to target soon to buy a tarp to aid us in our next adventure. So we don't have to spend so much money adn time drying out our crap. But yeah. WAY EFFING FUN and we're so doing at least once in winter. BEcause snow shelters are awesome.
And then LAST night, we had a ROCKIN thunderstorm, so instead of hitting up all the parties, zach and I and a couple others (some of which had gone to more parties and were less sober than I was) went out and played in the rain for like an hour. which rocked hardcore, and eventually degenerated into us sliding into each other down this hill. which was amazing; you could slide down this hill that was barely even a hill better than you can sled down real hills in winter. It was awesome; like 15-20 feet of pretty speedy slideage easily. ANyways, after that we came in and were terrifically dirty so we all took showers and then did our own things, which for me included sleeping very shortly after getting back.
End.

So. That was fun. There's a dance soon but I'm not sure if I'll be going... We'll see. I think I may just relax, talk to some people, read the book I'm supposed to read, and what not. Anyways. To the good part!
Drive-- fun!!
Cedar Point-- way awesome!!!!
Canoeing-- way awesome!!
Back for a day, hanging with friends. Yay!
Now for today. Zach came in around 9 so I helped him get moved in, then we hung out for a while. He's a cool guy. Have to say I was feeling awkward of beiong the only kid on campus with a long distance relationship, but a LOT of people here have them. It makes me feel at home. Everyone is SOOOOOOOOOO nice. We had convocation and the beginning of orientation (we don't start classes until monday). We had the ceremonial frisbee throw, where everyone on campus stands in a circle and launches their frisbee at once, but before we could do that, we were interrupted by well over 75 people streaking through our midst. Most naked people I have EVER seen together at a single time, by a lot. It was nutso, dudes. Now, for pictures of my dorm room! very bad quality but I hope to put up some good ones soon. ( Here you go! )

Before I leave the internet community for the next week and a half, I'd just like to say that I love Kim Somers more than anything else in the whole wide world. The end.
PS. The rest of you are pretty cool, too.
PPS. I love you Kim =)
